Don't be so sure. I rescued a small female bullmastiff and immediately started getting compliments on my 'boxer mix'.
At first I patiently corrected them and assumed because she's small-statured people didn't recognize it. However, after talking to other bullmstaiff owners who routinely get the same comment, I think people just aren't that familiar with the breed. I can see it in their faces, when they hear the 'mastiff' part they're thinking of the English Mastiff and look at me like I'm crazy. Others hear the 'bull' and think pit bull mix.
However, I've read that bullmastiffs, no matter what color, will have no white markings, so that might be a tip-off to something else.
bought mine with no papers but was told she was bulmastiff/brindle...she appears to be the mastiff/boxer mix instead. how common is this, I wonder?
